1. Purpose of this page
This page explains how money currently moves on DexTask for Gigs, Errands, and Campus Market, how payouts work, how refunds are sent, and how disputes are raised. It reflects rules already shown to users in the App and on the previous Terms page. It does not invent a new commercial guarantee.
The legally binding framework is the Terms and Conditions. In-app messages shown before you cancel, dispute, or add a bank account also apply to that action. If this page and a live in-app confirmation differ, the confirmation for that action and the records of that transaction prevail, and we will correct the documents if we find a conflict.
DexTask uses Paystack. Paystack is a separate company. You should read Paystack's terms as well. DexTask is not a bank, is not NDIC-insured as a deposit-taker, and does not describe Escrow as a trust or an insurance policy.
2. Where payments apply
In-app payments described here apply to Gigs and Errands and to Campus Market checkout. Mobility may use different settlement, including an operator ledger for commission. Website forms do not charge you. Blog advertisements and affiliate links are not student Escrow.
All amounts are in Nigerian Naira unless the product shows otherwise.
3. Paystack charges and Escrow
When you pay for a Gig or a Campus Market order, Paystack processes the charge. DexTask receives metadata such as amount, status, and a reference. Card or bank details needed to take the charge are handled by Paystack.
For Gigs and Errands, funds are held in Paystack Escrow (or a similar Paystack payment-holding arrangement) until the originator approves completion or until a cancellation, no-show, expiry, or dispute outcome applies. For Campus Market, checkout holds payment until you confirm receipt, according to product rules.
"Held" means the charge has been taken and is not yet released as a payout to the other User. It does not mean DexTask has placed the money in a separate trust account under the Trustees Act. We do not claim that.
Do not pay a counterparty outside the App for a transaction that was meant to be funded in-app if you want the holding arrangement to apply.
4. Fees you can see
Errands: you choose the price. Platform fees are shown before you pay.
Repairs and similar jobs: a small booking fee may be taken first, with labour and parts agreed in chat.
Digital Gigs: the full amount is held upfront. The provider submits work for review before release.
We will not hide a fee that the product charges at the moment of payment. If a fee is not shown, do not assume a later surprise deduction except the originator-cancel processing fee described below, Paystack's own processing, or a bank's own charges.
5. Payouts
Withdrawals for Gigs, Errands, and Campus Market use one verified payout bank account per User.
Rules:
- You select your bank and enter your account number.
- The account name is resolved automatically.
- The name must match your DexTask Legal Name exactly. A partial match is not enough.
- The first time a payout is needed, you add that account. It is saved and reused.
- Changing it later requires email verification and DexTask review. The current account stays in use until the change is approved.
If the names do not match, the payout will not go through that account. That is intentional. It reduces the risk of sending student earnings to a third party's bank.
After bank details are received for a due payout, in-app copy states that payment should reflect within 2 hours, and that you should contact Support if it does not. That is an operational target. Receiving banks and Paystack can take longer. It is not a penalty clause against DexTask for every delay.
Operators do not use this same student payout bank for mobility commission. Commission is recorded in an operator ledger according to product rules.
6. Refunds
Refunds are credited back to the original Paystack payment source or account used for that charge. DexTask does not ask you to submit a new bank account for a refund. Anyone who asks you to "send a new account so we can refund you" is not following this policy.
You should receive an email and a push notification when a refund payment is completed, according to in-app copy.
If you do not receive a Gig refund within 24 hours after it is initiated, open Help and support in the App and include your task ID or Paystack reference. The 24-hour figure is the in-app support trigger, not a statutory compensation period.
7. Gigs: cancellation and no-show
Current in-app Gig refund rules include:
- If you cancel the service yourself as originator, your refund is the full amount paid minus a 10% Paystack processing fee.
- No-show, expiry, and executor-fault refunds are returned in full.
- If escrow was funded and nobody accepted, and you permanently remove the post, a refund is initiated so you can be paid back, still subject to the originator-cancel fee language where that language applies.
- A no-show refund path is available after the errand needed-by time has passed and the runner has not verified on site. Message them in chat first. If you proceed, Escrow returns in full.
- If the runner did not reach the check-in zone in time, you receive a full Escrow refund (auto no-show language in the App).
Executors who cannot continue may drop a task so another runner can accept. Escrow stays with the poster. The first period after accept may require a reason; after that, a reason and photo proof. Habitual drop abuse can temporarily block accepting.
These rules apply to Gigs as currently described to users. They do not automatically rewrite Campus Market or mobility.
8. Campus Market payments
Buyer checkout holds payment until you confirm receipt. Meet and inspect the item first where you can. Confirming receipt is a serious step.
If a purchase is refunded, money returns to the original Paystack payment source used for that checkout.
Seller payouts use the same verified payout account as Gigs, with the same Legal Name match.
Boosted listings may be free during a launch period or paid through Paystack. A boost fee is a promotion purchase. It is not Escrow for goods. Refunds of a boost, if any, follow the product rule shown at the time of purchase. We will not invent a boost-refund percentage that the product does not show.
9. Disputes
If a Gig goes wrong (non-delivery, suspected theft, abandoned pickup, wrong or damaged goods), use the in-app dispute path. In-app copy states that chat, tracking, and payment records will be checked before any refund; that the runner cannot accept new errands while a dispute is open; and that filing a dispute pauses the 48-hour archive of brief and chat.
DexTask reviews the records we have. We are not a court. We may release, refund, split where the product allows, or keep a hold while we ask for more information. Provide photos and a clear note.
For Campus Market, write to the seller in chat and then to support if you should not confirm receipt or if you confirmed in error. We cannot always reverse a release that the product already completed, but we can review Account action and, where Paystack still allows a refund path, use it.
Do not file a dispute as a bargaining tactic when the work was done. False disputes are a Terms breach.
10. Chargebacks and bank claims
If you funded a payment, then also ask your bank to reverse it while keeping the goods or the completed Gig, DexTask may restrict the Account and contest the claim with the records we have. Paystack and the banks have their own processes. We will cooperate with a genuine unauthorised-transaction report.
11. Taxes
You are responsible for taxes that apply to your own earnings or sales. DexTask does not, on this Website, publish a statement that it withholds PAYE for student gig income. If a withholding or information-reporting duty later applies and is implemented, we will say so.
12. Failed payments and pending states
A Paystack reference on the Website callback page is not, by itself, a completed Escrow release. Return to the App and wait for the status to update. If a charge shows on your bank statement but the App still shows unpaid, write to support@dextask.app with the reference. Do not pay a second time until support confirms.
13. Support for money issues
Email support@dextask.app or use in-app Help and support. Include:
- the email on the Account;
- task, order, or ride identifier;
- Paystack reference;
- a short timeline.
We aim to reply within one business day. We cannot accelerate a receiving bank.
Do not send card PAN, CVV, or PIN.
14. Changes
Payout matching, Escrow, and refund rules may change. We will update this page and, for material changes to existing Users, give notice as the Terms describe. A change will not be used to confiscate money already allocated by the rule that applied to a completed event, except for fraud or a legal duty.
